About Prospect Place

Prospect Place stands as a non-profit, non-denominational senior housing community tucked into a quiet Ridgewood, New Jersey neighborhood, with a clear focus on giving independent seniors aged 55 and older a home-like, affordable setting, and while there's no fuss or fancy talk, the grounds are tidy, there's a nice yard out front, and the peaceful feel sticks with you, and you'll see the bus stop for the Village Service Senior Bus right at the door, which really helps people get around town without much hassle, and parking's free for residents and their guests. The place has thirteen private bedrooms in each house, and each bedroom can be set up with your own furniture if you want, though the bathrooms are shared with just one other resident, and you get access to shared living spaces like a living room, dining room, laundry area, three-season porch, a kitchen where residents can make their own meals if they like, and a second-floor sitting room at Cottage Place, while every week the staff sees to the house cleaning and there's on-site laundry facilities residents can use without charge. Meals get served Monday through Friday with lunch and dinner prepared by the on-site cooks, and residents make their own breakfast and weekend lunches, which lets folks have a bit of their own routine; special diets and allergies are accommodated, and the Executive Director runs things, overseeing the admission process and keeping everything up to code with state licenses and regular inspections. Safety's taken very seriously, with a sprinkler system, emergency alert system, routine fire drills, and careful compliance with New Jersey State regulations. Residents have utilities, cable TV, wifi, maintenance, and housekeeping all included, so there's not much to fuss over, and there are washers and dryers in the buildings, which also have safety rails and handicap-accessible features to help everyone get around. The staff includes an Executive Director, an Assistant Executive Director, a full-time cook, two part-time administrative assistants, an hourly maintenance worker, and a part-time resident assistant, with extra support from volunteers and the Board of Trustees and Directors, all pulling together to create a sense of community. Social activities run throughout the week with arts and crafts, chair exercise classes, holiday events, and music, and there's space for family or guests to gather. There's also a dining hall, a fitness center, a hair salon, a game and activity room, and pleasant, landscaped gardens for sitting outside. Residents can get personal care support, medication management, and help with daily needs, plus housekeeping, laundry and dry cleaning, meal preparation, and transportation services as needed, plus respite care for families who need short-term relief, and memory care options including special programs and 24-hour support for those living with Alzheimer's or dementia, as well as skilled nursing with round-the-clock care for complex needs. The living set-up's pretty straightforward, with one-bedroom units, shared bathrooms, and common areas made for folks to keep busy or gather together, and the community does welcome long-term care insurance, which can help families with payments. Overall, Prospect Place aims to give seniors an affordable, safe, neighborly environment where people can keep their independence and enjoy daily life with a bit of extra help when it's most needed.
