The Villa At Florham Park

The Villa at Florham Park used to be a senior living community that provided many levels of care, including assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care for Alzheimer's and dementia, and short-term rehabilitation. The building had a historic Romanesque design with thoughtful additions, so everything felt familiar and easy to get around with wide halls and rooms for wheelchairs or walkers, emergency call systems, and private baths in residents' units. There were 80 beds for skilled nursing care and 21 for assisted living, with some studio apartments and rooms having small kitchenettes. Residents could join arts and crafts, game nights, and fitness classes while spending time in the recreation room, TV lounges, or garden patios. The community ran group outings, pet therapy, and even set up iPads for residents to play games or stay mentally active. People could get occupational, physical, and respiratory therapy, all with part-time nurses and skilled staff on hand, and there was always 24-hour supervision and medication support. The place served meals daily, handled laundry and housekeeping, and helped with transportation to appointments or shopping. Faith played a role, with onsite religious services, and the Villa welcomed residents from the public and retired Sisters of Charity. It belonged to Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey, whose mission stretched to serving a wide variety of human and healthcare needs across the state, like affordable senior housing, outreach, and hospice care. Inside, the environment felt homey, and there was a focus on easing daily life for anyone who needed support, whether recovering after a hospital stay or living with memory issues. Life at the Villa meant having personal help with bathing, dressing, and medication reminders. Residents could join regular clubs, meals, events, an intergenerational pen pal program, and group activities that aimed to keep everyone connected and less lonely. The Villa was licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health, was known for its warm, friendly staff, and sat close to hospitals and doctors, but it's currently closed and no longer accepts new residents.
